The eventual position of this desk is what
created the design. It was to replace an existing work area that had
a dead space corner. A good example of this common problem is trying
to reach that long lost cookie pan stuffed way in the back of that
corner kitchen cabinet. It's basically wasted space. Well to
alleviate this problem we decided to make the entire top rise to
expose the work area. We used an AUTON
pop up lift to do the job of raising the top. We had to make a few
changes to the lift to make it do what was needed, but I won't get
into that since it was quite complicated. The end result was that the
desk had an open area for a persons legs and a file system that
raised out of the dead space area. Whats especially unique about it
is that you can raise the top by either using a switch mounted under
the top's edge or by touching a button on a remote control to:

Reveal the work area.
